Connecting Communication: an invitation to explore the power behind words

Change and challenges have become a permanent feature of our professional and private lives. Holding on to certainties is not an option, yet we often struggle to go with the flow of change. We feel thrown off balance, backed into a corner, rebellious or tired, and wonder how to still communicate with others.

When we let ourselves be guided by convictions and opinions, it can feel as though we are being lived. It sometimes seems as if others (parents, colleagues, news reports and social media) shape our opinions without us having any say in the matter. How can we take a different approach? How can we move forward with respect for ourselves and others? How can we make a difference from an inner drive and sense of responsibility, in a world full of every conceivable difference and opinion?

Connecting Communication offers inspiration to relate differently to the outside world by communicating from a place of calm and from a place of strength. It first helps you get clarity for yourself on what truly matters, and then to engage with others about it and listen to them in return.

It takes the willingness to get to know yourself ever better and the courage to reach out to others and listen to them from this connection with yourself. Connecting Communication helps you grow in navigating more consciously through chaotic upheavals.

In touch with the power of your own words

Do you feel you could be a bit more assertive? Or perhaps a bit less direct? Both starting points benefit from an exploration of what truly matters and a more conscious communication with others. Investigating what you see, hear and think during specific events leads you to needs that are or are not being met for you at such moments. Connecting Communication helps you gain insight into these needs. You can then make choices about how you want to take care of them.

By speaking connectingly, the other person hears what you are saying. Mainly because in Connecting Communication you speak from your own needs while taking the other person’s needs into account. Facts rarely trigger resistance in the listener. Thoughts and convictions, on the other hand, are open to discussion. And judgements tend to block dialogue. Yet much of our experience is based on thinking and judging. But behind thoughts and judgements there are also needs hiding. Once you gain insight into those needs, life offers so many more possibilities for taking care of them. And the self-knowledge gained also gives you so much more room to hear what matters to others.

In touch with the power behind other people’s words

Do you feel that others take too little of a stance, or that they think of themselves but not of others? Here too, Connecting Communication helps, because you learn to ask in a disarming way what the other person thinks, feels and needs. Once you can acknowledge what is going on for the other person, a connection arises from which you can enter into dialogue, find a way forward together and learn from each other.

Our open training programme

In our basic training in Connecting Communication, you learn together with others to explore what moves you and to find the most fitting expression for it. At the same time, you learn a very special way of listening to the other person’s message and what lies behind their words.

For leaders, the Connecting Leadership programme offers attention not only to developing skills for connecting communication, but also to what you as a leader can do to create a context in which employees want to give their best.

For those who want to give their personal growth a boost, we organise a transformation programme. Here we create a supportive context for facing ongoing frustrations, fear and sadness, and for arriving at a new relationship with what has happened to you. Don’t let old experiences stand in the way of your further development! Seize this opportunity and transform into a better version of yourself.
